Toyota’s Movie Moments

As one of the world’s most beloved automotive brands, Toyota has come to represent more than just cars. In South Africa specifically, the Toyota name is steeped in the local culture, with many of its vehicles representing various eras during the country’s storied history.

As one of the world’s largest and finest car manufacturers, it comes as no surprise that many of our cars have played starring roles in some of the biggest blockbusters the world has ever seen. Toyota cars are equal parts attractive, innovative, reliable and efficient. These characteristics make our cars the perfect Hollywood stars.

These are some of Toyota’s biggest movie moments:

Toyota Prius (The Other Guys)

To outshine Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and cameo appearances from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson, a car truly has to be in a league of its own. The Toyota Prius, which featured in the 2010 comedy hit The Other Guys, stole the show with its smart, efficient, and capable presence.

Toyota Supra (The Fast & The Furious)

Eight movies in, The Fast & The Furious movies have become one of the highest grossing film franchises of all time. The first movie in the franchise was introduced to the world in 2001 and it featured an orange, charged up Toyota Supra. Now, we’re not saying the success of the franchise is down to the Supra’s starring role in the first film, but it certainly didn’t hurt to have one of Toyota’s most iconic sports cars in their ranks.

Toyota Tacoma SR5 (Back to the Future)

When you think of Back to the Future and cars, you automatically think of Doc Brown’s DeLorean. However, in the movie, Marty McFly’s dream car is the impressive Toyota Tacoma SR5 pickup truck. When he travels back in time, he finds his dream car parked in his garage.
